XT Exchange at Eight: Stablecoins Need to Work Beyond the First Payment

At XT Exchange’s 2026-09-24 anniversary X Space, XT Labs head Aaron.J examined the infrastructure businesses need to turn stablecoin receipts into usable funds.

A business can receive a stablecoin payment and still have a bill to pay in local currency. Revenue has arrived, but wages, supplier payments and accounting remain to be dealt with. For a company considering whether to accept stablecoins regularly, those later tasks are part of the payment decision.

That was the business problem Aaron.J, head of XT Labs, examined during XT Exchange’s Chinese-language anniversary X Space, “Building for the NeXT Billion: What Can Crypto Make Possible?” He saw potential benefits for small firms working across borders, while pointing to the difficulty of converting or spending funds through local channels. Any advantage at the transfer stage still had to survive the work that followed.

“I think this is still a pain point for the industry,” he said, speaking in Chinese.

He asked whether payment channels could support a more complete flow of funds, including employees’ wages and suppliers’ bills. For an ordinary merchant, needing to return to conventional payment systems to meet those obligations could leave important parts of that flow unresolved.

The first question is whether incoming funds can reach the people the business needs to pay. Employees and suppliers may use different arrangements from the customer who sent the money. Aaron.J’s examples made that dependence clear: the usefulness of a stablecoin receipt also rests on what can happen to it next, under the conditions where the business operates.

HiSeven, an on-chain product and AI agent practitioner, extended the example into the company’s accounts. He pointed to recording receipts, handling conversion and meeting accounting needs, alongside paying the money out. An incoming transfer leaves a business with work to complete before that payment has been fully dealt with.

“Can merchants use it as a payment method in their day-to-day business?” HiSeven asked.

That question brings the work after a first transfer into the decision to use the service again. Businesses would have to consider arrival times, clear fees and access to local currency, as well as reconciliation and help when something went wrong. Manual work tolerated in a trial might become a reason to avoid the same route for regular receipts.

For XT Labs, the gaps also helped identify where useful products could be built. Aaron.J described an interest in supporting teams improving the final steps between fiat and crypto, along with merchant payment infrastructure. His investment perspective gave the business examples a purpose: they showed where separate services still needed to connect before a payment could fit into ordinary operations.

That work would depend on local conditions. Aaron.J acknowledged that arrangements had to take account of the requirements in each market, while the wider discussion recognised the continuing usefulness of existing payment methods. The opportunity lay in making a workable route through the business’s obligations, with costs and limitations that people could understand.

XT Exchange’s anniversary discussion therefore brought adoption down to the work following a receipt. A company needs funds it can use and records it can reconcile. Stablecoins become a more practical choice when money from a customer can move through those tasks without creating a fresh set of problems for the next working day.
