Gate Launches WCTC S8 Global Trading Competition, Introducing a New Phase with Multi-Format Competition
The 2026 season of Gate’s flagship trading event, World Crypto Trading Competition Season 8 (WCTC S8), officially began on April 23. As a key initiative marking Gate’s 13th anniversary, the competition has moved from registration into the live trading phase, where participants worldwide will compete over nearly one month.
According to official data, this season attracted strong interest prior to launch. More than 40,000 users registered, forming over 6,000 teams, setting a new high for participation. With the competition now underway, participants are competing in real time based on trading performance, alongside a corresponding increase in platform trading activity.
WCTC S8 adopts a multi-track structure, with team, individual, and 1v1 PK formats running in parallel. The team competition has already entered its first stage, where rankings are determined by trading volume and profitability. The individual competition spans the full event period and focuses on overall trading volume, while the PK format introduces a higher-frequency, head-to-head dynamic that enhances real-time engagement. This multi-dimensional design allows traders with different styles to participate effectively.
In terms of incentives, the total prize pool for this season can reach up to $8 million, released dynamically based on the number of valid participants. Each track features a differentiated reward structure, supplemented by task-based incentives and interactive campaigns, forming a broad incentive framework. As the live trading phase progresses, the linkage between prize pool distribution and trading activity has begun to take shape.
In terms of trading scope, WCTC S8 incorporates spot, derivatives, and selected TradFi assets into a unified competition framework. By connecting multiple trading scenarios, the event more closely reflects real market conditions and further emphasizes multi-asset trading capabilities. As one of the earlier platforms to develop a multi-asset trading system, Gate now supports over 350 TradFi assets, with liquidity and market depth remaining among the industry’s leading tier.
The upgrades in participation scale, trading coverage, and competition design reflect Gate’s continued progress in user engagement, product integration, and liquidity support. The platform currently serves more than 52 million users worldwide, ranks second globally in spot trading volume and liquidity, and remains among the top three in derivatives trading and overall market strength. The launch of WCTC S8 underscores both its global user base and operational capabilities, while reinforcing its position in multi-asset trading and high-frequency trading environments.
